Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Tucson Medical Center. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens and maintaining the integrity of the specimen in relation to the test being performed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood specimens from patients and label the samples in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Process and distribute specimens for testing, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  • Transport patients' specimens to the laboratory or make arrangements for delivery in a timely manner.
  • Verify computer input data, assign identification numbers, and produce specimen collection lists/labels and other computer reports.
  • Document failure-to-draw reasons according to laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Resolve routine problems related to specimen collection and processing.
  • Consult reference manuals to ensure specimens are properly packaged for send out.
  • Coordinate the dispatch log and courier requests for specimens being sent to outside laboratories.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Six (6) months of experience collecting blood specimens.
  • Valid AZ driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the proper collection of blood specimens and proper chain of custody to ensure integrity of the specimens.
  • Skill in the collection of blood specimens.
  • Skill in organizing labels and work to ensure timely completion of tasks.
