We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team at Turner Construction. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for managing and supervising engineering and administrative policies, procedures, and functions at a project level.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a comprehensive understanding of contract documents, including Turner's contract, plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Lead and supervise engineering staff, providing input on performance appraisals and ensuring strict adherence to safety, ethics, and compliance requirements.
- Establish and maintain procedures for information flow, approvals, meetings, reporting, and applications for payment with design professionals, consultants, owners, and subcontractors.
- Work with Preconstruction, Estimating, and Purchasing to develop Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) or initial project budget, and lead the preconstruction effort as it relates to Project Engineering and specific project needs.
- Conduct thorough construction document reviews, examine documents for constructability and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), and bring concerns to the attention of design professionals for resolution.
- Prepare detailed contract items lists, trade scope of work documents, and procurement schedules to ensure timely buy-outs and compliance with the construction schedule.
- Manage financial status of the project, including preparation of project status and accuracy of financial reports.
- Schedule, conduct, and document job meetings, owner-architect, and coordination meetings, and manage subcontract change order process.
- Manage project close-out, including securing warranties, guarantees, and acceptance of work, subcontract, and vendor close, final payment, and records retention.
- Bachelor's Degree plus minimum of eight years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and cost control procedures, estimating, construction costs, scheduling, purchasing, and engineering principles and techniques.
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of programs, and knowledge of Turner's Project Management and scheduling software.
- Ability to implement leading-edge technologies such as Building Information Models (BIM) and Lean to benefit the project.
- Demonstrated ability to thoroughly understand drawings and specifications, general contract and subcontract documents, materials, means, and methods.
- Very strong oral and written communication skills, and demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
This role requires regular work on-site at the construction work site, where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
