The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Mechanical Maintenance team, ensuring safety and efficiency in all tasks performed.
This role includes managing both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, adhering to the guidelines of Duties and Responsibilities outlined below.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Facilitating daily safety meetings with the team to promote safety and productivity.
- Conducting regular departmental safety meetings and effectively championing the plant's safety initiatives.
- Organizing and participating in mandatory safety training sessions.
- Encouraging teamwork and collaboration among peers, subordinates, and management.
- Utilizing sound judgment to optimize costs, reduce work duration, and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Providing clear instructions and expectations to foster continuous improvement.
- Recommending critical spare parts and assisting in inventory management based on lead times and equipment importance.
- Ordering and maintaining tools in compliance with OSHA and regulatory standards, including lifting and rigging equipment.
- Training maintenance staff and offering guidance on all plant systems and equipment.
- Leading onsite activities from planning through execution, offering technical support and industry-standard recommendations.
- Assisting the Maintenance Manager and Planner by reviewing work schedules and outage plans.
- Evaluating drawings and specifications for feasibility, quality, and compliance with industry and company standards.
- Monitoring corrective, preventative, and predictive maintenance across the facility, including mobile equipment.
- Overseeing repairs to plant equipment and rolling stock based on data from maintenance management systems.
- Ensuring daily work scopes and projects are executed safely, accurately, and within set timelines, in line with company SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Troubleshooting complex mechanical issues while collaborating with team members to develop and implement effective solutions.
- Inspecting and approving work completed by mechanics on a daily basis.
- Monitoring tool and spare parts needs, ensuring adequate provisions are included in inventory systems.
- Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in job sites, maintenance shops, tool storage, and oil storage areas.
- Reviewing timecards for accuracy and monitoring attendance, ensuring fairness in handling absences and vacation requests.
- Conducting annual performance reviews and assessments.
- Coordinating with various workgroups to ensure seamless operations.
- Completing all required training within designated timelines.
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of five years of experience in plant maintenance, specifically in electrical or mechanical equipment repair.
- Ability to lead the team in daily operations.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and equipment manuals.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work in confined spaces and close quarters.
- Capability to climb ladders and structures.
- Tolerance for heights, high temperatures, and outdoor work.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to wear a negative pressure respirator as per OSHA regulations.
- Frequent standing, using hands, and reaching with arms; occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling for extended periods.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for the job.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Shift Work:
This position operates on an 8-hour shift, with overtime as necessary.
