Job Description

The individual in this role functions as a key member of the SGS Regulatory Affairs team, with business unit level influence and recognized as a subject matter expert within the Consumer Goods business unit. In this function, the individual combines knowledge of scientific, regulatory, and business issues to provide services that enable our clients to develop, manufacture, and sell products that comply with applicable legislation and standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as technical manager to support sales teams and account managers internally and/or during interactions with clients, including technical inquiries from the SGS Retail Solutions team.
  • Support responses to tenders and/or projects from a technical perspective.
  • Prepare or support the preparation of test plans, test protocols, and/or SOPs according to regulatory and/or client requirements.
  • Stay up to date on applicable and upcoming federal and state laws, hazardous materials regulations, and other applicable US/Canada laws and regulations applicable to cosmetics, personal care, and household products.
  • Conduct toxicological evaluations and write safety/risk assessments, ingredient reviews, and product label reviews for cosmetics, OTC products, cleaning products, and other household consumer products in accordance with applicable US/Canada laws and regulations.
  • Compile toxicity and regulatory data to integrate as needed to generate robust safety assessments.
  • Support training and growth of Regulatory Associate(s) in preparation of reports for desktop review services.
  • Present and provide regulatory updates and technical information during sponsor interactions, company-sponsored webinars, trade shows, and other external channels.
Requirements
  • Language Skills - Strong written and spoken English skills, other languages required.
  • Computer Skills - Proficient in Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook) required.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Strong reasoning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented.
  • Self-managed and responsible to project and time management.
  • Proficient and comfortable in client engagement activities, including participating in meetings and conducting presentations.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to non-technical people.
