Job Summary

The Telecom Technician will be responsible for supporting all telecommunications systems, including Cisco and ShoreTel VoIP, Nortel, Spectralink, voice cabling, and other 3rd party applications. This role will interact directly with patients, care givers, and support staff, and will require excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day support for telecommunication operations, including wireless devices, overhead paging systems, power systems for all equipment, and call handling operations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve telecom-related problems in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of all telecommunication systems.
  • Program voice mailboxes for individual users and department trees, and troubleshoot voice mail issues and telecom system failures.
  • Place and evaluate phone equipment orders, coordinate and oversee all phone work orders, and audit, sort, and distribute monthly Call Detail reports as requested.
  • Ensure that departmental procedures are followed to track inventory throughout the organization, and research and account for any missing items.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot phone systems, wiring/cabling, and repair all telephony equipment.
  • Be familiar with analog and digital phone systems, including Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), which uses broadband connections to place calls over computer networks.
  • Maintain accurate reports in regards to the system, including monthly cost summaries, telephone directory, and user database.
  • Responsible for all telecom system backups, and analyze and resolve telecom-related problems in a timely manner.
  • Interface with local and long distance vendors, and be able to function in a TEAM environment on a daily basis.
  • Retain ownership and responsibility for problems or requests until resolved, and monitor and perform the daily operations of numerous telephony systems.
Requirements
  • 3 years or less Telecommunication support experience, with VoIP systems preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Advanced knowledge of basic IT concepts, and ability to self-motivate and work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the organization up to and including Executive management.
  • Solid analytical skills to continually evaluate and make recommendations on process improvement.
Working Conditions

This role will require some travel to Remote Offices, and participation in an after-hours on-call rotation schedule. The successful candidate will be required to participate in the organization's emergency disaster plan.
