About the Position
The Certified Recovery Mentor provides peer support to individuals who may be experiencing substance abuse issues in the community. This role utilizes a non-clinical, strengths-based approach to support clients in removing barriers while increasing clients' well-being and recovery. The position is part of the Adult Mental Health department and supports the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Gambling programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet regularly with consumers and provide support and guidance.
- Train consumers in independent living skills and model same behaviors.
- Document encounters with consumers and maintain accurate records.
- Advocate on behalf of consumers and promote self-advocacy.
- Participate in ongoing support network with other Peer Support Specialists and MCCFL staff.
- Coordinate and facilitate oversight of outings/activities and ensure safety.
