SUMMARY

The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee and direct the facilities management department within the organization. This includes ensuring that all repairs and scheduled maintenance of the facilities, which encompass warehouses, offices, utilities, administrative areas, production sites, and grounds, are carried out efficiently and on time. Key responsibilities involve the daily oversight of buildings and equipment, along with modifications or upgrades to existing systems to minimize production interruptions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise the Maintenance Department's operations across multiple shifts.
  • Conduct inspections of the facility to assess the utilization of buildings, space, equipment, and overall infrastructure.
  • Evaluate assets to ensure they meet operational requirements.
  • Understand the lifecycle of equipment to provide informed recommendations regarding maintenance or replacement.
  • Investigate equipment failures and analyze them in relation to projected operational timelines.
  • Maintain and monitor asset maintenance protocols.
  • Enhance equipment efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Streamline departmental responsiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Source, install, and configure new machinery and equipment.
  • Analyze systems such as HVAC, network wiring, and lighting.
  • Plan and budget for facility modifications, including cost estimates and project documentation.
  • Conduct audits to support facility planning initiatives.
  • Develop long-term strategies, conceptual designs, and necessary documentation for capital expenditures related to facilities.
  • Coordinate program specifications and requirements for proposals and contracts.
  • Act as a liaison with public utility, environmental, and energy organizations.
  • Monitor construction and installation progress to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Review contracts for adherence to governmental specifications.
  • Oversee the allocation of building space, layout planning, and communication services.
  • Manage the Preventative Maintenance program to ensure timely inspections and servicing of all equipment.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

This position involves managing subordinate supervisors and staff within the Facilities Maintenance Department. Responsibilities include the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit, as well as carrying out supervisory functions in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. This encompasses interviewing, hiring, training employees, assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and addressing any issues that arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance if required.
  • Commitment to a "Safety First" work environment, adhering to all safety regulations and reporting unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Capability to read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and operating maintenance machinery.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience in facilities management or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret business documents, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Proficient in writing reports and manuals, and capable of presenting information effectively. Strong mathematical skills are necessary for applying concepts such as ratios and proportions to practical scenarios.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in various formats.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This role requires regular standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
