Position Overview:
The Chief Operations Officer will direct all operational aspects of our waste management enterprise, which serves both B2B and B2C markets, including collaborations with major home improvement retailers.
The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in mechanical operations, software management, and financial stewardship, particularly with tools such as Microsoft Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership:
Supervise daily operations, ensuring optimal efficiency across all departments involved in waste management, collection, distribution, and disposal services. Oversee day-to-day functions, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and safety protocols.
Fleet and Logistics Management:
Enhance fleet operations to guarantee timely service delivery and effective resource allocation.
Concentrate on market profitability through the efficient management of all fleet activities, including cost control, routing, driver time management, and safety.
Ensure vehicles are safe and dependable to meet operational demands.Profitability Oversight:
Track and improve profitability through diligent budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Formulate and execute strategies to boost revenue streams and enhance overall financial performance. Review and reconcile invoices, fuel expenditures, tolls, mileage, and hours on a weekly basis.
Employee Management and Training:
Address the needs of each department, including employee recruitment, coaching, discipline, training, and performance evaluation. Recruit, train, and mentor personnel across various divisions, nurturing a culture of excellence and collaboration. Provide input on termination, compensation, and promotion decisions.
Customer Service Excellence:
Oversee inbound and outbound customer service operations, aiming to enhance customer retention and satisfaction through effective communication and service initiatives.
Bonus and Incentive Programs:
Develop and manage incentive programs designed to elevate employee performance and customer retention. Create and implement bonus structures to reward high performance and boost employee engagement.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
Work closely with marketing to identify and seize growth opportunities within disposal sectors and enhance brand visibility. Collaborate with executive leadership to establish long-term objectives and operational strategies, aligning them with overall business goals.
Software and Technology Utilization:
Utilize Microsoft products, particularly Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and operational efficiency. Implement software solutions that streamline operations and enhance customer interactions.
Inventory and Distribution Management:
Oversee inventory control and distribution processes, ensuring effective purchasing capabilities and minimizing waste. Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to establish a routine maintenance schedule and address vehicle issues. Develop a network of maintenance facilities to reduce downtime and costs.
Cultural Development:
Encourage initiatives that promote a positive work culture across all divisions, boosting employee morale and productivity.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in a senior operational role, preferably within the waste management or logistics industries.
Strong mechanical and operational knowledge relevant to fleet management and distribution.
Hands-on knowledge of heavy truck repairs and maintenance; a CDL (current or past) is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with operational software systems and Salesforce is advantageous.
Proven ability to lead and develop teams, with a strong focus on performance management and employee satisfaction.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer-centric approach.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to effectively navigate operational challenges.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
Compliance with No Smoking Policy and Drug Testing required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field; an MBA is preferred.
Compensation:
Salary:
$110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year (based on experience).
Bonuses based on cost savings in repairs.

Schedule:
Monday to Friday with occasional weekend work as needed.
Experience Required:
Heavy truck maintenance: 3 years (preferred).
Customer/end user service: 3 years (preferred).
