Job Summary

The Lead Dietetic Technician is a key member of the nutrition care team at Johns Hopkins Hospital. This role requires a strong background in dietetics and experience in a clinical setting. The successful candidate will assist in training new technicians, ensuring accuracy of formula room inventory, and maintaining formula room standards in sanitation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in training new technicians and ensure they are properly trained in formula room procedures
  • Ensure accuracy of formula room inventory and maintain formula room standards in sanitation
  • Perform clinical duties under the guidance of Registered Dietitians, including interviewing patients, performing anthropometric measurements, calculating nutrient intakes, and educating patients and families on specific diets
  • Monitor food quality and meal acceptance, and prepare formula and breast milk fortification
  • Document patient care notes in electronic medical record (POE)
Requirements
  • Associates Degree or successful completion of a Dietetic Technician Program approved by the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • ServSafe certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Advanced knowledge of food composition, menu planning, and safe food handling
  • Proven competency in formula room equipment
  • Ability to direct the work of others to accomplish established department goals
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with rotating shifts, including call and weekend work. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and maintain a high level of analytical ability to assess patient for potential nutritional risk, assist in planning suitable diets, and implement the patient's care plan.
