Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rotorcraft-Helicopter Pilot to join our team at the Broward County Sheriff's Office. As a key member of our Fire Rescue and Emergency Services department, you will be responsible for performing flight operations in response to emergency and fire rescue missions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate multi-engine helicopters in response to emergency and fire rescue missions
  • Transport victims, patients, equipment, and medical personnel
  • Ensure the safety of passengers and crew members
  • Conduct aerial firefighting operations
  • Maintain all pre-flight and post-flight data, including operations logs and aircraft logs
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on aircraft and rotor blades
  • Conduct training flights to enhance air operations and safety
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Rotorcraft-Helicopter Commercial and Instrument rated license
  • FAA First or Second Class Medical certificate
  • 1,000 pilot-in-command (Rotorcraft-Helicopter) flight hours
  • 250 hours of night flight time (rotorcraft-helicopter)
  • 50 rotorcraft-helicopter hours in the past 12 months
Preferred Qualifications
  • CFI and CFII Rotorcraft-Helicopter rated
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate
  • Medevac helicopter experience
  • 14 CFR 135 Helicopter Air Ambulance experience
  • EC135/145 experience
  • 500 hours of NVG experience (rotorcraft-helicopter)
  • 3,000 hours total of flight time (rotorcraft-helicopter)
  • 1,500 PIC flight hours (rotorcraft-helicopter)
  • 100 instrument flight hours
  • 500 turbine-engine helicopter flight hours
Working Conditions

This position involves working in a fast-paced emergency response environment, with potential exposure to disagreeable elements such as inclement weather, high wind speeds, and equipment stress. The employee must be able to act without direct supervision, utilizing initiative and discretion in response to emergency circumstances.
