About the Role

Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science is seeking a highly skilled and experienced marketing and communications professional to join our team as the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of strategic marketing and communications initiatives that showcase the School's excellence in computer science and advance its reputation as a world-leading institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan that aligns with the School's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Lead a team of marketing and communications professionals to create and implement engaging content, campaigns, and events that promote the School's research, education, and outreach initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, and staff to identify and leverage opportunities for marketing and communications that advance the School's reputation and visibility.
  • Manage and maintain the School's brand identity, including its visual brand, messaging, and tone of voice.
  • Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing and communications efforts and make data-driven decisions to optimize future initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, industry partners, and media outlets.
Requirements
  • 10-15 years of experience in marketing and communications, with a strong background in higher education or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages and stories that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to coach and mentor a team of marketing and communications professionals.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with a broad range of marketing and communications channels, including digital, social media, and traditional media.
  • Demonstrable data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret and apply data to inform marketing and communications decisions.
