**The Opportunity**

We're seeking an Engineering Technician to join our Transfusion Medicine division in Abbott Park, IL. As an Engineering Technician, you'll provide technical support for Engineering Department projects, focusing on the implementation and maintenance of Facilities, Utilities, and Equipment (FUE) supporting the worldwide manufacture of Biologics and Transfusion Instrument test kits.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Provide technical support for Engineering Department projects, including machine shop operations, material testing, manufacturing, process and laboratory equipment installation, startup, and qualification.

• Collaborate with leading engineers and cross-functional teams to support validation/qualification of Facilities, Utilities, and Equipment (FUE), including process equipment, automated equipment, and related software systems.

• Work independently to resolve design conflicts and ambiguous instructions, and communicate effectively with multi-disciplined engineers and scientists.

• Adapt to changing requirements and meet project commitments without sacrificing workmanship quality.

• Troubleshoot methodologically, diagnose, and resolve issues with equipment and systems, and maintain detailed records of tests, inspections, and repairs/work performed on systems.

**Requirements**

• High School Diploma and two years of qualifying experience, or Junior college (or apprenticeship) certification in a selected field.

• Six years of related experience may be substituted for the two-year certificate.

• Experience with technical troubleshooting and support of both new and aging Facilities, Utilities, and Equipment (FUE).

• Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to interface with production, engineering staff, and various development and maintenance groups.

**Preferred Qualifications**

• Hands-on electrical or mechanical skills/experience in manufacturing companies/industries, such as medical devices, medical diagnostics products, Defense/Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive, Food & Beverage, and/or Pharmaceutical.

• Associate Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree.

• Knowledge of PLC programming, CAD, AUTOCAD, and/or Solidworks.

• Strong fluency in English and Spanish a plus.

• Knowledge of Maximo and/or SAP.

• Familiarity with tools within the Continuous Improvement (e.g., 6 Sigma, Lean, Kaizen, etc.) and participate in problem resolution.
