Job Summary

We seek a skilled Counselor to provide comprehensive, ongoing case management support to low-income families eligible for the Hennepin County MFIP program. This role assists participants in achieving economic stability and exploring career opportunities, promoting long-term independence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships with participants through proactive service.
  • Assess participants' overall status, recognizing strengths and identifying challenges.
  • Facilitate individual career exploration sessions, informing goal setting and employment plans.
  • Provide continuous coaching and career counseling to support ongoing employment success.
  • Assist participants in developing goal plans for family stability and self-sufficiency.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments to determine family strengths and needs.
  • Connect participants with various services and resources, including affordable housing, legal assistance, and health services.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and file documentation.
Additional Tasks
  • Answer phone calls, route inquiries, and provide customer service.
  • Support special projects, committees, and organizational initiatives.
  • Perform related administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A high level of attention to detail and follow-through.
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience or strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience with online databases (Workforce One, MAXIS, MEC2) is a plus.
  • A valid driver's license and insurance.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $22.00-$24.00 per year, depending on qualifications. Additional benefits include:
