San Jose, California, United States Open Bionics Limited Full time

About Us:
Open Bionics Ltd is a pioneering healthcare organization dedicated to the design, development, and manufacturing of advanced bionic limbs for individuals with upper limb absence.

Our Vision:
"Create and Democratise Technology that Enhances the Human Body". We strive to make aesthetically pleasing bionic limbs more accessible, transforming disabilities into extraordinary capabilities. Our collaborations with renowned brands such as Star Wars, Marvel, Twentieth Century Fox, and Konami have garnered us multiple accolades, including the Hanger Clinics Innovation Award for prosthetics.

To learn more about our mission, please visit our website.

Position Overview:

We are in search of a highly motivated professional who is passionate about innovative prosthetic solutions that can significantly improve users' quality of life.

As our Licensed Prosthetic and Orthotic Specialist, your primary objective will be to provide cutting-edge prostheses and exceptional services to our clinical partners and users of our state-of-the-art assistive technology.

The Hero Arm is a powered, multi-articulating, and multi-grip prosthetic arm designed for individuals of all ages.

With ambitious growth plans, this role offers the opportunity to expand your experience, skills, and responsibilities in tandem with the company.

Your responsibilities will include becoming an expert in fitting Open Bionics' customers with Hero Arms and managing the complete workflow of constructing and fitting check-sockets, as well as delivering training to new Hero Arm users to ensure they maximize the benefits of their prosthesis.

We expect you to uphold the highest standards of customer service and possess the potential to specialize in upper limb prosthetics, with the eventual goal of managing your own clinic.

You will be expected to develop a comprehensive understanding of the Hero Arm and serve as an ambassador for our organization.

Given the high level of responsibility associated with this position, we seek candidates who are genuinely committed to advancing the industry with innovative ideas.

You will approach your clinical responsibilities with a business-oriented mindset, focusing on optimizing patient experiences and enhancing workflow efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver the highest standard of clinical services to Open Bionics customers, aligned with our core values.

Provide training and ongoing support for Hero Arm users, assisting them in achieving daily living activities and personal objectives.

Educate and certify prosthetic care providers on the Hero Arm fitting process.
Monitor performance through customer feedback, metrics, and data from our ERP system to make informed decisions for growth.
Assess potential users' eligibility for the Hero Arm and support trials with clinical partners as needed.
Facilitate clinical input to streamline the adoption rate, prescription, and funding application of the Hero Arm.
Offer internal clinical insights to Open Bionics developers regarding product development for both hardware and software, testing new versions or products based on expected clinical benefits for clinicians and users. Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation for clinicians and end-users.
Actively participate in relevant consumer or trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences, including supporting booth activities, workshops, and communications.

Contribute to clinical research projects/publications that aim to reinforce the clinical value and benefits of Open Bionics' solutions.

Engage in research and development projects focused on new technologies that assist clinicians.
Provide a patient-centered approach to upper limb prosthetic rehabilitation and continuous support for Hero Arm users.
Attend and host a weekly satellite visit once per quarter.
A successful initial six months at Open Bionics would include:
Developing a sustainable and efficient clinical workflow/pipeline in collaboration with Open Bionics' UK and US clinics.

Candidate Profile:

Certified Prosthetist with recent graduation or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Orthotics and Prosthetics.

Experience in delivering prosthetic solutions for individuals with upper limb absence (including myoelectric/multi-articulating/bionic components) is advantageous but not mandatory.

Demonstrated evidence-based practice approach to patient care, with a clear understanding of Open Bionics' vision.
Proficient in shape capture and rectification methods (experience with 3D scanning technologies and digital rectification platforms is preferred).
Ability to formulate appropriate prosthetic prescriptions for individuals with upper limb absence and demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
Exceptional patient care and a strong motivation to provide the best possible experience for patients while monitoring outcomes.
Commitment to achieving successful patient outcomes as defined by the patient.

Must hold certification from either the Board of Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC) or the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) as a Prosthetist or Orthotist/Prosthetist.

Passionate about making high-quality prosthetic solutions more accessible to end-users. We seek individuals who resonate with this mission—missionaries, not mercenaries.
