Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice and counsel on the operations of the Office of the Secretary, including the review and approval of the issuance of orders and notices relating to the enforcement of the securities laws.
  • Conduct second-level reviews of documents and provide legal advice regarding the application of the federal securities laws and Commission Rules of Practice.
  • Represent the agency in high-level meetings, conferences, and presentations involving a wide range of participants, including regulatory or law enforcement agencies, state, local, national, or international government offices, private industry, and the academic community.
Requirements
  • J.D. or LL.B. degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership of the bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the SK-14 level, including analyzing complex legal and factual issues related to enforcement matters, conducting legal research, and engaging in a high order of creative interpretation and reasoning to formulate advice and recommend legal courses of action.
