About the Role

We're seeking a compassionate and experienced Peer Specialist to join our Home Base (Community) Program. As a Peer Specialist, you will have the unique opportunity to use your lived experience to support families in crisis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate peer support to families struggling with mental illness or substance abuse through home visits, phone check-ins, and in-person appointments.
  • Offer encouragement, advocacy, and resources to help families overcome obstacles.
  • Use your vehicle to transport clients to appointments or activities, ensuring they access essential services and enrichment opportunities.
  • Work alongside the Case Management Unit to ensure families receive timely and impactful support.
  • Lead and facilitate educational workshops for adolescents (when assigned), helping them learn, grow, and thrive.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, maintaining professionalism and transparency.
  • Participate in team meetings and trainings to continuously grow your skills and contribute to the team.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • If you're in recovery, a minimum of three years sobriety (as per funder requirements).
  • A deep understanding of substance abuse, mental health challenges, and/or adolescent behavior.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software tools to help you manage your work efficiently.
  • Access to a car and a valid New York State Driver's License (required).
