The Enterprise Systems Engineer is a critical role at Amentum, responsible for maintaining the design and integrity of our program systems. This position requires a highly skilled engineer who can oversee the program's Wireless Intrusion Detection System (WIDS) at a client site, build scripts, provide expert technical assistance to team members, and build and patch servers (Linux and Windows).
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deploy functional servers on Linux and Windows operating systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Maintain system compliance with cyber security standards and practices, ensuring the highest level of security and integrity.
- Monitor system performance and integrity, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to optimize system efficiency.
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness, streamlining processes and reducing manual errors.
- Create, oversee, and test security measures, including access authentication and disaster recovery, to ensure business continuity.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with users, providing timely and accurate technical support.
- Maintain complete technical documentation, ensuring that all system configurations and changes are properly recorded.
- Suggest improvements to performance, capacity, and scalability, driving business growth and innovation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of direct industry-related experience as a Mid-Level to Senior Systems Engineer, or equivalent knowledge and skills.
- Experience in maintaining compliance with cybersecurity standards and frameworks, such as NIST and ISO 27001.
- Professional certification(s) in a relevant field, such as MCSE, CCNP, or CISSP.
- Solid background in systems engineering and maintenance, with a strong understanding of communication protocols and routing protocols.
- In-depth understanding of deploying Elasticsearch on Linux in a clustered environment, with experience in virtualization (ESXi, vCenter) and access control models.
- Familiarity with server operating systems (Ubuntu 18.04, Windows) and knowledge in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related engineering field.
- Understanding of basic Cisco switching functions, including configuring access and trunk ports.
Additional Requirements
- Must have an active TS/SCI clearance with poly level of clearance and the ability to maintain clearance.
- The ability to work proficiently with minimal oversight, with excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, twist, and carry at least 15lbs of equipment, with a strong focus on physical and mental well-being.
