Mental Health Technician 1

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Technician 1 to join our team at Fairfax Main Hospital. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and supporting the Registered Nurse in implementing a plan of care to meet individualized and developmental patient care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Communicate patients' progress toward desired outcomes and changes to the Registered Nurse.
- Monitor patients/their environment and intervene appropriately to promote a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Complete forms and flow sheets accurately according to policies and procedures.
- Reinforce transition/discharge teaching and home care skills.
- Describe the unit's quality improvement activities, trends, and goals.
- Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and report variances in practice in accordance with Inova Health System policies and procedures.
- Provide information to patients, families, and visitors, orients patient to the unit and program, explains rationale for rules or restrictions, provides printed information.
- Provide basic activities of daily living nursing care while monitoring activity, sleep and intake/output.
- High School or GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Clinical/medical background preferred
