About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and talented litigation attorney with experience in securities and commodities issues in the broker-dealer and futures commission merchant space to join our General Counsel office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in litigation and a proven track record of success in representing clients in arbitration and court proceedings.
Responsibilities
- Represent the firm in arbitration and other adversarial proceedings, both directly and in conjunction with outside counsel.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on court actions involving the firm.
- Represent firm employees in third-party proceedings.
- Advise firm employees on pre-litigation matters.
- Draft agreements, disclosures, account documentation, and website materials.
- Investigate and provide detailed analysis and legal advice concerning anti-fraud efforts and cybersecurity matters.
- Stay abreast of current cyber-related regulatory developments.
Requirements
- At least seven years of post-J.D. experience as a litigator at a law firm, financial services regulatory agency, exchange, broker-dealer, or FCM.
- Experience in court or arbitration proceedings is preferred.
- Familiarity with securities and broker-dealer issues is preferred.
- Background in cybersecurity issues is a plus.
- Member in good standing of the bar of any US state or the District of Columbia.
- Solid academic background.
- High degree of comfort and fluency with computers and technology and understanding of how technology is applied to business and regulatory problems.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
