About the Role

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is a dynamic organization that offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children. As a Martial Arts Instructor, you will play a vital role in shaping the next generation of leaders and individuals.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced instructor to teach the fundamentals of martial arts to participants aged 7-13. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in martial arts, excellent communication skills, and the ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach martial arts classes to children aged 7-13
  • Oversee paperwork and assist with program promotion
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and curricula
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to participants and their families
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a positive and inclusive team environment
Requirements
  • Age: 18 years or older
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; college education preferred
  • Specialized Skills:
    • Strong background and minimum 1 year experience teaching martial arts to children
    • Programming/curriculum planning
    • Experience working with children
    • Ability to communicate effectively and relate to youth
    • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals
    • Strong character values, communication skills, and emotional maturity
    • Current EMSA First Aid, Adult, and Child CPR and AED Certifications (ARC, AHA, and ASHI certifications only)
