Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Radiology Specialist at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, you will be responsible for performing high-quality ultrasound examinations, including 3D and 4D imaging, to aid in the diagnosis of various medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Select and operate ultrasonography equipment to perform examinations, ensuring accurate and high-quality scan results.
  2. Evaluate patient records to determine exam completeness and aid in determining the need for additional scans.
  3. Communicate ultrasound findings to physicians for interpretation and consult with radiologists as needed.
  4. Perform transducer decontamination and maintain log entries, reporting any discrepancies to the Education Coordinator.
  5. Modify billing fields to reflect the exam being performed and instruct students, residents, and physician staff in unit operations.
  6. Maintain ultrasonography equipment, recognizing malfunctions and ensuring quality control procedures are maintained.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and registry eligible required.
  • Minimum one year of experience performing a wide range of general and specialty ultrasound exams preferred.
  • Experience in high-risk OB, advanced abdominal imaging, complex infertility, and guided biopsies preferred.
  • Competent in ultrasound reporting systems and possess a broad knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and physiological data.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required.
  • Licensed by the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy in the state of New Hampshire.
  • Must maintain active certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in specialty areas.
