Job Overview

Position Summary

The role of IT Systems Administrator is a full-time exempt position responsible for the daily management and support of a Windows-based infrastructure. This includes servers, desktops, laptops, and Microsoft applications, ensuring operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of computer networks, providing hardware and software support while ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Conduct routine network tasks, including updating antivirus definitions, monitoring server performance, and offering user support and specialized training.
  • Facilitate the implementation of all LAN services, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and Windows Server environments.
  • Maintain complex Windows environments, focusing on both physical and virtual server support.
  • Monitor data usage to safeguard security and access rights.
  • Create and manage user accounts, profiles, file sharing, access rights, email accounts, and security measures.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve server or network issues.
  • Research and assess new technologies related to networking and software/hardware.
  • Act as the primary liaison with IT vendors for software, hardware, and service procurement.
  • Assist the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in maintaining compliance with security protocols and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in IT or system/network administration, preferably in the defense sector.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Internet Information Services (IIS) is required.
  • Familiarity with encryption software and basic knowledge of Cisco environments is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and navigate adverse conditions.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying weights between 30-60 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb steep or vertical ladders.

Security Clearance

  • An active Secret clearance is required for this position.

Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the year to various locations.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts as needed.
