Position Summary

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assisting in the treatment and management of patients with respiratory needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide education to patients and caregivers on the effective use of respiratory equipment and care procedures.
  • Ensure patients and caregivers are proficient in operating and maintaining respiratory devices.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and tests, including pulse oximetry, ETCO2, spirometry, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Maintain routine follow-up contacts with patients based on their individual requirements.
  • Perform on-call duties as necessary.
  • Administer and manage various types of respiratory care equipment, including oxygen therapy, nebulization, apnea monitoring, suctioning, and both invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
  • Inspect and test equipment to guarantee proper functionality.
  • Document and maintain comprehensive patient records, including care plans and physician orders.
  • Accurately enter data related to respiratory equipment on monitoring platforms.
  • Collaborate with referring physicians regarding patient treatment plans and conditions.
  • Engage in ongoing education and training related to respiratory care.
  • Assist with patient scheduling as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must meet the company’s background check standards.
  • Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program is mandatory.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and auto insurance as per company policy, with the requirement to drive for patient home visits.
  • Registration or certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is essential.
  • Current RCP license in the applicable state(s) is required, if mandated for practice.
  • Valid CPR certification is necessary.
  • All relevant licenses must be maintained in good standing.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficient communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Successful completion of the company's respiratory therapy orientation and competency evaluation program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills (reading, writing, verbal) are advantageous.

Physical Demands

This role requires the ability to use hands for handling objects, reach with arms, and perform physical tasks such as stooping or kneeling. The employee must be capable of using computer and telephone equipment and may need to travel by various means. Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs may be necessary.
