We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Park Ranger Supervisor to join our team at the State of Oregon. As a key member of our park operations team, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision and guidance to park rangers, volunteers, and other staff members in the protection of state park lands, natural and cultural resources, and in the maintenance, operation, and repair of park structures, facilities, equipment, and utility systems.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct supervision and guidance to park rangers, volunteers, and other staff members in the protection of state park lands, natural and cultural resources, and in the maintenance, operation, and repair of park structures, facilities, equipment, and utility systems.
- Develop and implement effective park operations plans and strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors and staff.
- Collaborate with other park staff and external partners to achieve park management goals and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with park regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Provide training and development opportunities to staff members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Conduct regular inspections and assessments of park facilities and resources to identify areas for improvement.
- Develop and manage budgets and resources to support park operations.
- Five (5) years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; resource interpretation; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR park maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping); AND/OR natural resource technician experience (e.g.: forestry, fish & wildlife).
- A Bachelor's degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field; AND Two (2) years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; resource interpretation; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR park maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping); AND/OR natural resource technician experience (e.g.: forestry, fish & wildlife).
- An Associate's degree in Park and Recreation Administration or Natural Resource Management, Environmental Studies or a related field; AND Three and a half (3.5) years of visitor services experience (e.g. rule enforcement; resource interpretation; special events and activities; etc.) AND/OR park maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping); AND/OR natural resource technician experience (e.g.: forestry, fish & wildlife).
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
- Knowledge of park regulations, policies, and procedures.
