Job Summary

UNC Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Lab Technician to join our team in Carrboro, North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of patient testing and administrative tasks in support of clinical activities in the UNCHCS.
  • Assist with bone marrow collection and perform complex specialty testing such as Hemoglobin/Thalassemia Profile on HPLC.
  • Work closely with the clinical team and pathologists to ensure accurate and timely test results.
  • Participate in quality control and equipment maintenance in the laboratory.
  • Prepare specimens and reagents, solutions, heat, or filters as required.
  • Report results to healthcare providers and consult/confere with them regarding test results.
  • Review test results to ensure accuracy and timely correction of errors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree required.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements upon hire to sit for MT exam within 12 months of hire.
  • Must obtain certification within one year of becoming exam eligible.
  • No prior experience required.
