Dialysis Technician II

As a Dialysis Technician II at Washington University in St. Louis, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care in our outpatient dialysis setting. Your primary responsibilities will include initiating and terminating dialysis treatments, performing phlebotomy, maintaining accurate records, and responding to the needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange and maintain equipment and supplies for dialysis and other procedures, including preparation of dialysate solutions.
- Perform cannulation, initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatment.
- Observe and monitor patient vital signs and significant dialysis treatment parameters, assessing patient signs and symptoms and providing treatment accordingly.
- Communicate pertinent patient information or changes in patient condition to the team leader, documenting these results per unit's policies.
- Transport, weigh, and assist patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, and chairs.
- Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and respond to patient concerns in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
- Dialysis experience.
- Medical Assistant certification.
- Organizational, interpersonal, communication, and phlebotomy skills.
- Ability to work in a team setting.
- Mathematical ability.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergent situations.
- Working knowledge of computers.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent high school certification with 6 months of experience in a hospital or outpatient healthcare facility setting.
- CCHT certification by nationally recognized board (NNCC and BONET) is required within 18 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements). BLS certification must be obtained within one month of hire date.
Salary and Benefits
