Job Summary

Under general supervision, this role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems at the hospital and off-site buildings. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of refrigeration principles, mechanical systems, and the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
  • Diagnoses problems, repairs defects, and performs preventive maintenance on commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems.
  • Services and maintains air conditioning, refrigeration, and mechanical systems, including disassembling units for repair, performing chiller maintenance, and testing and rebuilding vacuum pumps, damper motors, water, and refrigeration coils.
  • Works with components in air conditioning, refrigeration, and ventilation distribution, and mechanical systems, using manufacturer's specifications to establish system performance operating parameters and test equipment to ensure system performance parameters are being met.
  • Reads, interprets, and generates sequence of operation for HVAC equipment and systems, and reads and utilizes DDC programming code.
  • Performs test and balance work, repairs malfunctioning equipment, replaces defective parts as necessary, and completes preventive maintenance, maintaining records of service and repair reports to provide history of maintenance activities.
  • Installs, removes, stores, and records the specific location of all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment in the hospital.
  • Services and maintains thermostats, VAV boxes, TECs, lab ventilation equipment, and fan coil units.
Requirements
  • A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a high school diploma program or GED and completion of a vocational training program.
  • A minimum of three years' experience with HVAC equipment experience.
  • General knowledge of welding, soldering, braising, basic electronics, plumbing, and mechanics.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration principles and the ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
