Marks, O'Neill, O'Brien, Doherty & Kelly, P.C. is a prominent civil defense litigation firm seeking a dedicated associate attorney licensed in Delaware to enhance our Delaware office.

We provide the extensive resources and support of a large law firm while maintaining the friendly and collaborative atmosphere characteristic of a smaller practice. This role offers the chance to gain practical experience from the outset, along with exposure to various litigation fields. It represents a distinctive opportunity for a driven attorney to advise clients on a wide range of complex legal matters.

Established in 1986, our firm is at the leading edge of insurance defense litigation. Our skilled team handles cases related to professional liability, labor and employment, medical malpractice, casualty, construction defects, and general liability coverage. With multiple offices across the Mid-Atlantic region, we deliver a regional strategy tailored to our clients' litigation requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients throughout all stages of litigation, from case initiation to expert discovery, focusing on professional malpractice and employment claims.
  • Participate in court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and discovery investigations.
  • Draft various legal documents, including discovery requests, motions, case evaluations, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, and legal memoranda.
  • Review discovery responses and depositions, preparing summaries and litigation updates.
  • Engage in negotiations with opposing counsel to resolve claims.
  • Maintain close communication with clients throughout the litigation process, providing legal analysis, status updates, and guidance.
Qualifications:
  • Must hold a valid Delaware bar license.
  • Experience in medical malpractice, professional liability, or employment litigation is advantageous.
  • Exceptional writing and organizational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with Lexis software is preferred.
