Job Title: Area Manager - Abilene, Texas

The Area Manager, Locate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Locate team in Abilene, Texas. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team of Locate Supervisors and ensure the successful completion of locate jobs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of Locate Supervisors to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Workload Distribution: Oversee the distribution of workloads among team members to ensure efficient use of resources and meet customer demands.
  • Customer Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.
  • Corporate Interaction: Collaborate with corporate teams to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • IT and Purchasing: Work with IT and purchasing teams to ensure the necessary tools and equipment are available to support team operations.
  • Disciplinary Action: Oversee disciplinary actions as necessary to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory ordering and management to ensure the necessary supplies are available.
  • Mentorship: Mentor team members to improve their performance and skills.
  • Damage Resolution: Assist in resolving damage issues as necessary.
  • Report Interpretation: Interpret reports, such as PDRs and audits, to identify areas for improvement.
  • Locate Job Assistance: Assist in difficult locate jobs as necessary.
  • Force to Load Requirements: Maintain force to load requirements to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Performance Reviews: Conduct performance reviews for team members.
Qualifications:
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Clean Background Check: Must have a clean background check for access to restricted and/or controlled areas.
  • Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Drug Screen: Must be able to pass random drug screens and remain drug-free.
  • Computer Literacy: Must be computer literate.
  • Locating Ability: Must be able to locate.
  • PDR and Damage Investigation: Must be able to effectively perform a PDR or damage investigation.
  • Communication Skills: Must have excellent communication skills at all levels.
Requirements:
  • Leadership Experience: Experienced in effective leadership in the locating industry.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Utility Construction Understanding: Comprehensive understanding of underground utility construction and placement.
  • Training Program: Successfully complete company-provided Locate Technician training program and pass all required testing.
  • Long Hours: Requires long hours when necessary, including weekend and holiday work.
  • Travel: May require travel, including overnight stays and out-of-town assignments and/or training.
  • Computer Skills: Must have above-average computer skills.
  • Experience: Three to five years' experience.
