Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Engineering review and oversight of permit submission packages;
  • Collaborating with other engineers and drafting teams to organize, prepare, and review permit submission packages;
  • Interacting with certified field inspectors to develop work scope;
  • Performing site visits for engineering evaluations and preparing limited reports and repair designs as needed;
  • Interacting with production crews to resolve construction issues due to unforeseen site conditions and confirming as-built documentation for successful completion;
  • Interpreting regional or local building code requirements;
  • Communicating with building and municipal officials regarding ongoing and completed projects;
  • Maintaining professional licensing through continuing education;
  • Developing and delivering training presentations to admin, production, and sales teams as necessary, in person and/or remotely.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a BS in Engineering, with an MS preferred. A PE certification is required, while a SE certification is desirable. You should have at least five years of experience in structural or geotechnical design for commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat are essential, along with meeting and group facilitation skills, statistical analysis of incident data, and design and detailing competence with wood, concrete, and steel structures. Solid working knowledge of building codes, gravity, and lateral systems is desirable, as is construction observation experience. Excellent communication, organization, multi-tasking, and strong team skills are a must, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet project schedules, and maintain quality standards. Finally, you will need a valid driver's license and be able to lift 20-30 pounds infrequently, occasionally enter crawl spaces or tight spaces for inspection purposes, and be willing to travel up to 15% of the time.
