POSITION OVERVIEW


A Field Service Technician plays a crucial role in the initiation, commissioning, integration, and troubleshooting of medium voltage electrical switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, PLCs, meters, and various automated devices. This position also encompasses mechanical repairs and modifications.

The technician is expected to cultivate, promote, and sustain exceptional relationships with all clients, colleagues, sales representatives, and other relevant parties.

Continuous communication with the Customer Response Center (CRC), Supervisor, and direct manager is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Field Service Technician is tasked with:
  • Assisting in the initiation and commissioning of E+I Engineering 15KVAC electrical switchgear.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, co-workers, and sales representatives.
  • Evaluating the operational conditions of equipment.
  • Interacting comfortably with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing one's own schedule with self-motivation.
  • Conducting general and preventive maintenance on switchgear.
  • Responding to emergency service requests from customers.
  • Aiming to provide a 'first time fix' for all equipment issues.
  • Delivering accurate and timely communication to both internal and external customers.
  • Monitoring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Providing timely reporting of timecards, expense reports, and other documentation.

Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Medium Voltage switchgear or field services.
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies, with experience or military service in relevant duties.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic testing equipment and fundamentals.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints related to power control and automation.
  • Knowledge of power distribution, AC/DC, voltage circuit theory, and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with PLC and HMI programming is advantageous.
  • Mechanical aptitude and standard computer skills (MS Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • A valid driver's license is mandatory.

Foster a Customer-First Mindset. Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this role, candidates must successfully pass a drug test prior to employment. Additionally, a pre-employment background check is required.


EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, crawling, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing (stairs, ladders).
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck).

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
  • Exposure to extreme cold (below 32°F) and extreme heat (above 100°F).
  • Medium to high noise levels requiring shouting to be heard.
  • Working around moving machinery (forklifts, tractors).
  • Use of protective equipment (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.).
  • Outdoor work with minimal weather protection.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel time may range from 60% to 80%, depending on the technician's location.
