Job Title: Senior Payroll Tax Analyst

At Wegmans, we're seeking a highly skilled Senior Payroll Tax Analyst to join our team. As a key member of our Income and Payroll department, you'll play a critical role in ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations across all jurisdictions where we operate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop a team of employees, providing guidance, resources, and opportunities for growth and development.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial reporting for income taxes, including preparation of tax accruals, deterred tax calculations, and related footnotes.
  • Prepare federal and state income and payroll tax returns for legal entities within the company, analyzing results to provide accurate information.
  • Collaborate with internal and external business partners to evaluate tax implications and risk of proposed business initiatives.
  • Gather data, perform research, and analysis during audits, ensuring accurate reporting and identifying potential challenges.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, identifying potential impact to Wegmans and working with management to design and implement changes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
  • 3 or more years of accounting and corporate tax experience.
  • Understanding of accounting for corporate taxes and the tax code, technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance.
  • Ability to think creatively and make recommendations to minimize tax exposure.
  • Advanced technical research skills and ability to obtain accurate conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 or more years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
  • Knowledge of multi-state, multi-business tax complexities.
  • CPA certification.
  • Experience supervising and delegating tasks.
