Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Orthoptist will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient care within the Department of Ophthalmology. This position involves conducting comprehensive ophthalmologic assessments and executing precise diagnostic tests tailored to the designated area of responsibility.
In addition to direct patient interactions, the Orthoptist will be instrumental in the training and development of fellows, residents, orthoptic students, and rotating physicians. This collaborative effort ensures the highest standards of clinical education and technical proficiency.
Furthermore, the Orthoptist will act as a key intermediary between various ophthalmology clinics and other departments, fostering effective communication and coordination throughout the healthcare facility.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the Orthoptic clinic staff and oversee patient scheduling.
- Provide expert clinical support and guidance in orthoptic procedures.
- Facilitate educational opportunities for medical trainees and staff.
Qualifications:
Required:
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education (1-3 years) in a clinical environment alongside an Ophthalmologist.
Preferred:
National certification from the American Orthoptic Council as an Orthoptist (to be obtained within one year of employment).
