Job Overview

Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is currently seeking a skilled CNC Flat Bed Machinist for a contract-to-permanent opportunity.

Shift Details: This position is for the second shift, operating from Monday to Thursday, 6 PM to 6 AM.

Position Responsibilities:

The CNC Flat Bed Machinist will be tasked with setting up and operating various conventional and numerical control (NC) machines to manufacture both metallic and non-metallic components. Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting blueprints, sketches, and specifications to ascertain dimensions and tolerances for the finished product.
  • Marking and measuring materials to establish reference points for machining processes.
  • Selecting and securing appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on a 5-axis Horizontal Boring Mill equipped with Fanuc control.
  • Adjusting machine controls to optimize machining parameters such as speed, feed, and coolant flow.
  • Monitoring machine operations to identify any malfunctions or deviations from specifications, making necessary adjustments.
  • Conducting trial runs to ensure the accuracy of machine settings and programmed data.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Core Qualifications:
  • Completion of a 2-year technical program or equivalent in-house training.
  • Familiarity with materials, feeds, and speeds.
  • Ability to perform basic setups independently, including jaw selection and program verification.
  • Experience operating various milling machines, including Horizontal Boring Mills and Machining Centers.
  • Attention to detail to prevent damage to intricate machinery and high-value materials.
  • Capability to fulfill job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from a technical school or completion of a comprehensive apprenticeship program.
  • Over 10 years of experience with Horizontal Boring Mills or similar machinery.
  • Experience with 5-axis machining processes.
Additional Skills:
  • Proficient in reading blueprints and specifications to produce high-precision work.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines.
