Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Flat Bed CNC Machinist to join our team at Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS). As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on a 5-axis Horizontal Boring Mill with Fanuc control.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications.
  • Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.

Requirements:

  • 2-year technical school or 2 years completion of in-company training program.
  • Company training as required.
  • Good knowledge of materials, feeds, and speeds.
  • Ability to make basic set-ups from scratch, including jaw selection and boring of, and proving out of basic programs.
  • Ability to run different types of mills, including Horizontal Boring Mill, Horizontal Machining Centers, and small Vertical Mills.
  • Care and attention to prevent damage to complex machine tools or costly metals such as Stainless, Inconel, and Titanium.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of technical school, full apprenticeship program, or completion of in-company, three-year training program.
  • 10+ years' experience on a Horizontal Boring Mill or similar.
  • Experience with 5-Axis machining.
