Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Dietetic Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will provide nutrition care services to patients and clients, addressing the prevention and treatment of acute and chronic diseases and conditions while promoting overall health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete nutrition assessments of patients within the scope of practice of a Dietetic Technician-Registered, based on screening and documentation guidelines.
  • Implement and monitor nutritional interventions assigned by the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to meet the nutritional needs of patients.
  • Estimate nutritional intakes of patients, calculate and document calorie counts as requested, and assist RDs with data collection as needed.
  • Identify patients in need of in-depth assessment by the RD and transfer care appropriately.
  • Instruct patients (and/or families, as appropriate) on restricted/special diets or special formulas, and refer for outpatient follow-up as necessary.
  • Be knowledgeable regarding nutritional content, sources, and use of commercial supplements, tube feeding, infant formula, and feeding modulars (fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins, and minerals).
  • Input data from outpatient diet records on computer for analysis to be completed by the outpatient dietitian, maintain updates, and enter new items in Food Processor.
  • Provide education with regard to nutrition and lactation, including assembly, cleaning, and maintenance of breast pump equipment, special diet education, formula/modified human milk education.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nutrition or a related program from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to patients and families, public, medical staff, and physicians.
  • Must be able to read English with understanding and write English legibly.
  • Basic knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy in pediatric patients.
  • Basic knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Competence in nutritional content, sources, and use of commercial supplements, tube feedings, human milk, infant formulas, and feeding modulars (fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamins, and minerals).
  • Ability to perform increasingly complex mathematical calculations such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, and metric measures.
  • Computer proficiency required.
Work Schedule

Days/Nights, Rotating shifts. Every other weekend and holiday commitment. Anyone could be scheduled to work any shift at any time. Workers will be provided with schedules biweekly. After orientation, ~ 90 days, workers will shadow across all shifts. There is no flexibility in this requirement. Training is mandatory, and full-time may vary from the shift that a contractor will work outside of training.
