Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Administrative Forester to join our team at the Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation. As a key member of our Division of Natural Resources, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective management of our natural resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and coordination to forestry and natural resource staff to ensure timely and meaningful coordination with the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest Service.
  • Monitor and analyze current and proposed policies and projects to determine potential impacts on Yakama Nation management goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain reports to justify funding, report accomplishments, and verify expenditures.
  • Collaborate with the Forest Service to ensure planning is done holistically and that projects meet Yakama Nation forest management objectives.
  • Attend trainings and meetings to stay up-to-date on relevant information and changes affecting the Wildfire Crisis Strategy.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry or closely related field.
  • Five years of progressively responsible forestry work experience.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License and ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrolled Yakama Nation member or preference.
  • Knowledge of Federal and Tribal laws and policies relating to forest management.
  • Knowledge of silvicultural systems applicable to the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains.
