Job Summary

The Flexographic Press Operator performs all tasks in make-ready, preventative maintenance, and production run assignments. They are responsible for set-ups, ensuring that quality is to the highest standards and that production schedules are met as required.

Responsibilities
  • Operates assigned equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
  • Operates flexographic printing press to print designs or lettering on rolls of flexible plastic film, paper, and nonabsorbent stock for use in making labels.
  • Reads and is familiar with all documented procedures within the area of responsibility.
  • Performs all tasks according to the production schedule.
  • Thoroughly reads and complies with all special instructions and specifications.
  • Reads the job order, mounts cutting dies, embossing dies, installs print cylinders, and secures assembly in bed of press.
  • Fills trays.
  • Sets impression registration.
  • Starts press, adjusting speed, tension, and alignment of printing plate as necessary.
  • Cuts sample of printed material from end of printed roll and inspects for imperfections, such as blurred or off-center impressions.
  • Monitors the production during run quality, maintaining all required samples.
  • Must work well with others in a team environment.
  • Recording of time and production for job costing.
  • Performs all required preventative maintenance in accordance to production schedule.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area and press.
  • Observe company work rules and safety regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Five or more years of Flexo experience.
  • Experience with hot stamping, rotary screen or cold foil strongly preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience determined by hiring manager.
