Job Title: Per Diem Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

Mass General Brigham is seeking a per diem / prn RDN - Registered Dietitian Nutritionist for a per diem / prn job in Brighton, Massachusetts.

Job Summary

As a per diem Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, you will be responsible for providing quality nutritional care to patients in a timely manner, developing and implementing individualized nutrition care plans, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen and assess new patients through patient interview, referral information, and medical records within established timeframe.
  • Develop and implement nutrition care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team and in accordance with established standards.
  • Document nutrition information in the medical record and ensure it is up to date and compliant with department standards.
  • Edit diet orders in accordance with clinical privileges granted by the credentialing committee.
  • Develop and implement nutrition support plans to progress patients toward established goals.
  • Provide follow-up care per established standards of care.
  • Counsel and educate patients and families to meet their level of understanding and prescribed diet regimen.
  • Provide food/nutrition expertise to the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient and family needs are met.
  • Assist with discharge planning, including referrals for post-discharge nutritional care and communication with outpatient dieticians and/or home healthcare companies.
  • Complete nutrition consultations within established timeframes.
  • Monitor patient compliance with diet plans.
  • Provide liaison services between food service and nutrition to ensure meal service is efficient and in compliance with diet orders.
  • Carry out clinical preceptor duties per established guidelines.
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts to meet department goals.
  • Assist with enteral formulary review to ensure essential products and availability reflect current clinical practice and cost containment.
  • Update guidelines and therapeutic references relevant to nutrition care to reflect industry best practices.
Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Food and Nutrition, or Food Services Management.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical nutrition experience.
  • Current registration or registration-eligible member of the American Dietetic Association.
  • Current Massachusetts licensure.
  • Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills using the English language.
  • Ability to maintain a variable work schedule to provide patient care as needed.
  • Computer proficiency, with Microsoft Office applications preferred.
