Job Description

Assumption University seeks a skilled Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality health care services to students in our University Health Services clinic.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who can assess student patients, formulate and implement treatment plans, and collaborate with other healthcare providers to deliver exceptional care.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide episodic health care and treatment to patients in a University Health Services clinic.
  • Screen and evaluate student patients to assess their medical needs.
  • Formulate and implement plans for treatment through prescription, diagnostic testing, treatment or procedure, or referral.
  • Collaborate with other Nurse Practitioners and a consulting Physician to resolve questions or seek direction for specific patient treatment.
  • Perform limited on-site lab specimen collection and testing.
  • Follow up with patients via telephone or email to provide test results, offer recommendations, and answer questions.
  • Makes referrals to campus and community resources as needed for appropriate patient care.
  • Educates students individually on health matters, such as self-care, disease prevention, stress management, and living with chronic conditions.
  • Adheres to University policy as well as state and federal laws and regulations regarding the confidentiality and the privacy of personal health information.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program/ Master's degree in nursing.
  • National board certification as an Adult or Family Nurse Practitioner.
  • Licensed as a Massachusetts Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Massachusetts Department of Public Health Controlled Substances licensure.

This position requires sitting, standing, walking, and bending. Use of a computer keyboard and computer screen for periods of time with close vision and the ability to adjust visual focus plus manual dexterity are required.

This position requires reading, detailed work, confidentiality, language, math, reasoning, oral communications, written communications, customer contact, multiple concurrent tasks, and performing calculations when necessary.
