Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC Supervisor to join our Facilities Management and Campus Operations team at Brown University. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with codes, department instructions, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage staff in a union environment
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities of the shop, including quality control and quality assurance
  • Contribute expertise to departmental initiatives and projects
  • Manage labor and material costs, and make accurate estimates
  • Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
  • Analyze maintenance, repair, and construction data to make recommendations on safety, quality, and efficiency
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of others
  • Support a diverse and inclusive environment
  • Read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Complete accurate records, including time and material costs
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 7 years of experience, with at least 5 years managing staff
  • Considerable knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials of the trade
  • Skill in the installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of HVAC systems
  • Ability to assign, lay out, and supervise the work of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance workers
  • Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to complete accurate records, including time and material costs
Working Conditions

This position is classified as on-site and requires the ability to perform physical activities that require frequent talking, hearing, seeing, color identification, reading, and writing. The successful candidate must be willing and able to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
