The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise in technical principles, equipment functionality, and clinical correlation to conduct laboratory procedures effectively, ensuring the delivery of precise and reliable laboratory results.
Key Qualifications:
- Possession of a Florida State License as a Laboratory Technologist in Chemistry, Hematology, and Immunology is mandatory.
- ASCP Certification as a Medical Technologist is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory healthcare environment is essential.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, along with a commitment to being an integral part of a collaborative laboratory team, are required.
Responsibilities:
- Independently execute laboratory procedures and confirm their validity.
- Maintain an organized, tidy, and hygienic workspace.
- Effectively prioritize and manage assigned tasks to deliver acceptable laboratory results within designated timeframes.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
- Infection control protocols
- Universal precautions
- Needle safety measures
- Participate in mandatory training sessions and continuing education opportunities to uphold licensure requirements and stay updated with technological advancements.
- Evaluate current and emerging technologies to enhance clinical services, technical performance, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure adequate inventory levels of supplies for the laboratory.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary for specific tasks.
- Prepare and manage biohazardous waste in accordance with established guidelines.
- Troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation as needed.
- Promptly communicate Critical Value reports once verified.
- Conduct a variety of standardized procedures, both automated and manual, adhering to established standards and controls to guarantee accurate data, while systematically maintaining records.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of and proficiently perform various techniques using automated analyzers within the hematology and chemistry departments.
- Carry out quality control and preventative maintenance; accurately perform analyses and interpret results in a reliable manner.
- Process specimens for in-lab analysis and prepare specimens for external testing.
- Correctly prepare reagents, controls, and samples for analysis.
- Be knowledgeable of all laboratory safety protocols and guide others in adherence to these standards.
