Position Overview
Position Title: Senior Lab Technologist
Position Type: Staff Full-Time

Department Overview
This role is situated within a prominent laboratory dedicated to animal disease diagnostics. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the preparation and analysis of animal tissues for histopathological evaluation by veterinary pathologists.

Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare and process animal tissues utilizing standard histopathological techniques.
2. Perform the essential duties of a primary histotechnician, including conducting special stains.
3. Maintain accurate records of tissues and specimens processed for pathologist examination.
4. Assist in the preparation of special stain and H&E reagent solutions as required.
5. Ensure the histopathology laboratory and storage areas are kept clean and organized.
6. Collaborate with various departments on research initiatives or special projects.
7. Support clerical tasks such as answering calls, completing forms, and dispatching laboratory samples.

Qualifications
Required:
- High School diploma or GED with four years of relevant experience. Post-secondary education may substitute for experience.
- Experience in a public health, veterinary medical, clinical, or research laboratory setting.
- Rabies immunization or proof of adequate rabies titer is mandatory.

Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree with one to two years of experience as a histotechnician.
