Position Summary

The Inventory Management Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing and regulating all production activities across the facility to maintain optimal inventory accuracy that aligns with organizational objectives. This encompasses the management of raw materials, work in progress, and finished products through systematic cycle counting. The individual in this position is also tasked with implementing necessary adjustments to ensure product counts remain within specified limits and accurately reflecting new product costs. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with a strong work ethic, committed to meeting all inventory control standards and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify any discrepancies from the established bill of materials on work orders.
    • Ensure material requests are validated accurately, with modifications made to work orders as needed.
    • Confirm that revised parts are delivered to the appropriate teams and that any removed parts are returned to inventory.
    • Collaborate with team leads and planners to ensure parts are allocated to the correct operations or subsequent work orders.
  • Validate part locations and quantities.
    • Conduct regular cycle counts, tracking variances to maintain accurate quantities on hand.
    • Perform location audits and consolidations to ensure accurate representation of inventory by location, supporting cycle count precision and kitting efficiency.
  • Regularly audit receipts to ensure compliance with procedures and identify potential errors and areas for improvement.
    • Conduct daily random audits of receipts to support the receiving team and highlight any discrepancies.
  • Audit kitting processes daily to ensure all materials are accurately captured and sourced from the correct locations.
    • Verify location accuracy during the kitting process.
    • Validate daily transfers and backflushes to prevent shortages and discrepancies.
  • Address any quantity discrepancies or issues as identified by the Buy Planner, Lead, or Supervisor to support the goal of achieving 100% inventory accuracy.
  • Communicate with kitters to monitor shortages and relay this information to Project Managers and Purchasing.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of inventory experience is required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • In-depth knowledge of inventory-related procedures and system transactions is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in creating and utilizing Excel spreadsheets is required.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail is critical.
  • Familiarity with product lines and associated production processes is preferred.
  • Ability to perform daily clerical tasks related to reviewing production, receiving, and shipping data for accuracy is required.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, are required. Experience with ERP systems is desired.
  • Forklift and/or crane certification is required.
  • Must adhere to all safety and quality policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to engage in further training as needed.
