  • Adhere to prescribed menus and notify supervisors of any discrepancies or missing items.
  • Accommodate resident requests within the limits of their dietary restrictions.
  • Ensure compliance with menu guidelines and document any necessary substitutions.
  • Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in all food preparation and service.
  • Assist culinary staff in meal preparation and service tasks.
  • Follow cleaning protocols as outlined by the Food Service Manager.
  • Properly label, date, and store all leftover food items.
  • Communicate any needs for food, supplies, or equipment to the Food Service Manager.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions to the Food Service Manager promptly.
  • Stay informed about relevant local, state, and federal regulations, as well as facility policies.
  • Participate in training and in-service meetings as required.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Refer to the Petersen Health Care Dietary Operations Manual for guidance.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Must meet the legal working age requirements.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow work instructions.
  • Effective communication skills with residents and colleagues in English.
  • Ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, visitors, and regulatory personnel.
  • General understanding of state and federal regulations regarding long-term care.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
  • Completion of a sanitation test or willingness to undertake state-approved training.
  • Food handler training must be completed within the first month of employment.
  • Preferred experience of at least one year in a dietary aide role within a healthcare setting.
  • Must possess current federally mandated vaccinations or valid exemption documentation.
