About the Position
We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as an Assistant/Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a nationally recognized research program, teaching courses in geotechnical engineering, and contributing to the university's diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a research program in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on areas such as offshore/coastal geotechnics, geotechnical design for sustainability and extreme events, soil/structure interaction, biogeotechnics, environmental geotechnics, and geosystem resilience.
- Teach courses in geotechnical engineering, including undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students, including MS and PhD students.
- Contribute to university and professional service, including committee work and community engagement.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaborations and engage in college and university diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Requirements
- PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Ability to teach courses in geotechnical engineering.
- Strong commitment to teaching excellence and scholarly research.
- Demonstrated experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Research experience in geotechnical engineering or a related engineering field.
- Teaching experience in higher education.
- Postdoctoral research in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Professional engineering license.
