The Procurement Specialist I is accountable for sourcing and negotiating the acquisition of materials, equipment, and supplies from various vendors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vendor Evaluation: Assess vendor proposals and services to identify the most suitable suppliers.
  • Knowledge Development: Gain familiarity with standard practices and procedures within the procurement field.
  • Mentorship: Collaborate with seasoned purchasers to enhance understanding of commodities, pricing, suppliers, and market trends.
  • Systems Learning: Acquire knowledge about the material requirements and inventory systems utilized by the organization to ensure seamless production operations.
  • Progressive Responsibilities: Gradually take on increased procurement-related duties as the role evolves.
  • Order Verification: Monitor outgoing orders and confirm the receipt of incoming shipments.
  • Contract Negotiation: Review vendor proposals and negotiate contracts with acceptable bidders while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Record Maintenance: Keep an organized collection of procurement records.
  • Problem Resolution: Investigate and address issues faced by Production, Quality Assurance, and other departments concerning purchased materials, equipment, and services.
  • Expediting Purchases: As needed, follow up on orders to ensure compliance with delivery schedules and specifications.
  • Invoice Review: Examine vendor invoices, receiving slips, credit memoranda, and related documentation for accuracy.
