About the Role:

LCA Lab. Corp. of America is looking for a diligent and enthusiastic individual to become part of our Specimen Processing team. The Biological Specimen Processor will be tasked with managing specimen accessioning, organizing samples, and performing data entry in a dynamic, high-volume setting, adhering to established protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and introduce biological specimens to the laboratory for accurate processing.
  • Open specimens and transfer into secondary containers for analysis and testing.
  • Ensure patient demographic details align with the submitted test requisition forms.
  • Input patient information into the computer system for tracking purposes.
  • Achieve key production metrics and quality standards to guarantee timely and precise results.
  • Unpack and distribute specimens to designated staging areas.
  • Pack and dispatch specimens to appropriate testing facilities as needed.
  • Properly prepare and store surplus specimen samples.
  • Identify and document any issues with problem specimens.
  • Manage and dispose of medical and chemical waste responsibly.
  • Adhere to relevant environmental health and safety regulations.
  • Operate automated equipment under supervision when necessary.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional hours and overtime may be required based on operational needs.

Compensation: $20 per hour.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Previous experience in a medical or production environment is advantageous.
  • Proficient in computer and typing skills.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision test.
  • Comfortable handling human biological specimens, including blood, urine, and tissue samples.
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs and work in protective equipment while sitting or standing for extended periods.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination to accurately identify specimens by touch and sight.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • High attention to detail with effective problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
