About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Bond Manager III to join our team at Liberty Mutual Surety. As a key member of our Core Contract team, you will be responsible for managing a team that services the surety needs of customers within an assigned territory.

In this role, you will oversee the management of assigned staff and expenses to meet business and career objectives, as well as generate consistent PTOI earnings. You will also prepare budgets and business plans, manage expense reports, and coordinate the implementation of annual business plans for each office or multi-state territory within your area of responsibility.

You will participate in annual and strategic business planning processes, delegate supervisory responsibilities as needed, and remain accountable for the ultimate management of the book. Additionally, you will manage field surety underwriter activities, assist underwriters with technical underwriting issues, and cultivate business relationships through industry-related organizations.

This position requires strong leadership skills, analytical ability, and effective communication and interpersonal skills. You must possess the ability to communicate complex analyses and information in a clear and concise manner to other personnel in the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned staff and expenses to meet business and career objectives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree typically required, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive surety underwriting experience, including 3 years of proven underwriting management experience
  • Proven analytical ability to evaluate underwriting risks
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex analyses and information in understandable written and/or oral directives
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills, development of people, strategic thinking, sustained effective portfolio management, and profitable growth
