Survey Crew Chief Job Description

Randstad, in partnership with SAM.biz, is seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead their land survey crew in Elkhart, Indiana. This direct hire opportunity offers a chance to work with a reputable company that values innovation and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily field operations of a land survey crew, ensuring efficient data acquisition and project completion.
  • Determine the most effective plan of action for field surveys, from primary control to construction layout and as-built surveys.
  • Document work performed and sketches, maintaining accurate records.
  • Communicate daily with Project Surveyor and technicians regarding project schedule and work progress.
  • Interact professionally with client representatives and landowners, ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings/specifications, understanding project specifications and tolerances.
  • Prepare daily reports, time sheets, and other required paperwork, maintaining a high level of organization.
  • Maintain land surveying vehicle and field equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
Requirements:
  • Competent operating total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment is preferred.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, with the ability to adapt to new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen, write, and verbalize effectively.
  • Proven work history, strong work ethic, and team-player attitude.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk long distances and carry up to 80lbs.
  • Valid driver's license, clean background check, and drug screening.
